Nevada State May Legalize Cannabis In 2016

Nevada is one of 20 states to decriminalize possession of small amounts of cannabis, according to the Marijuana Policy Project. Unlike states like California and Massachusetts that have decriminalized the small amounts of the drug, first time offenders in Nevada can still be charged with a misdemeanor and be forced to undergo mandatory drug treatment. Even though the penalties are harsh, first state to qualify for the 2016 ballot with almost 60,000 more signatures than needed. Voters will have a chance to pass the Initiative to Tax and Regulate cannabis in November 2016
